Hebert Mahuni

Planting Churches in Khayelitsha

Hebert Mahuni was born in 1982 in Harare, Zimbabwe, one of nine children. Due to a clerical error at his birth registration, Hebert spells his name without the ‘r’ but likes it to be pronounced Herbert. His father was a road construction worker who moved around with the Ministry of Transport, giving Hebert exposure to different cultures and geographical places. Hebert gave his life to Christ when he was 12 years old and was baptised in the Ruya River.

Hebert graduated from high school in 2000. He holds a diploma in retail management and has studied Human Resources Management with the University of Zimbabwe. He was a company manager in Zimbabwe before relocating to RSA

As he grew in the Lord he always had a strong conviction of God’s calling on his life, later confirmed when he was asked by leadership to start a work in Cape Town (Khayelitsha), in partnership with others.

Hebert has been active in Every Home for Christ South Africa in Khayelitsha. He has helped plant home churches and is actively involved in door to door evangelism and discipleship training, and works with the Jesus Film project.

When he finishes, he intends to serve the Lord in Church planting, discipleship, evangelism and teaching of the word of God. Hebert also intends to pursue his studies further in the field of Biblical Theology.

Hebert is married to Abigail and they have two daughters and a son.

Hebert is in his 3rd year at the Bible Institute. He travels a whopping six hours a day on public transport to get to and from BI.
